Pomegrate Dream

How Are You?

Excited, overwhelmed, busy, overjoyed, ambivalent, frustrated, happy, emotional and  extremely grateful. That pretty much sums up how I've been doing lately. Last week, I finished the last dreadful final nursing school has to offer, and today I have been pinned as nurse. This is crazy for me. I was never one of those who magically whipped out A's out of their back pocket like it's nothing. Studying and testing never came easy for me. To add to it, I also learned I have the worst testing anxiety. Throughout nursing school, I lived in fear of major failure. However, our God is so good. No, I'm not just saying that. He is GOOD.

Throughout this journey, one of my biggest concerns was always the fact that my spirituality is dwindling due to the inability to do more reading/studying and learning our Lord. Numerous people have told me the same exact experience and the same effect it had on their spiritual person so I knew it was somewhat "normal." But I hated it. I didn't want to be okay with it. But time and time again I found myself turning out the lights after a long day at 3:00am and saying "tomorrow I'll do it." I would try to sneak in reading His word on my phone throughout the day but they were sorry excuses of mere verses here and there. I wanted to have that one on one time with Him..my soul ached for it.

Now as I look back, my heart is so full when I see the love he's poured out on me during this season of my life. Even though I have been very scarce towards Him, he has not been towards me. He was with me when I was breaking down from nerves and not understanding the content. He was with me when I was driving to school saying a hurried prayer of need. He was with me when I was in fear that I wasn't going to make it. He was with me relentlessly. He was with me when I wasn't. Every test day, He proved himself to me by showing me He wont let me fail because He is with me. My connection with God wasn't "dwindling", it was actually being strengthened. This is where He showed me that I don't have to do anything for Him to love me. And even though I've always known this in theory, I don't think I've ever really experienced it. This is how He decided to teach me a little part of who He is.

Southern Angel

That's what my fiance calls me. And since this is mostly his his work, I presume the title is fairly appropriate. This post is very special to me. Its actually the very first time my fiance and I met in person. After months of messaging, texting, calling, we finally decided to meet face to face. Andrey very nonchalantly, of course, pretended the visit was intended all for photography. I didn't mind the excuse (although we both knew that's what it was) because we both had our reservations about "online dating" and this whole thing in general. But pictures, well that's something we both were comfortable with. (Actually, check his work out at LuxFilms if you will ;] )He also designed and made these wings specifically for this project. Anywho, this shoot happened a few days after he flew in, and by then, we both knew our story was never going to end. So here's a few shots cultivated by two creatives in love.

Baby in Brewing

This was literally the most prettiest baby shower I have ever been to! And it was all made possible by LA Event Design! A new team in the Chattanooga, Cleveland areas specializing in all sorts of event planning ranging from birthdays to weddings. They are flawless and frugal; determined to make the most of whatever budget they are presented with. These ladies are not only the most creative but also the kindest souls to be around. Take a look at their creations from this baby shower!

When Birds Fly South

Adriana and I teamed up; me with my photography, she with her amazing ballet dancing to create this lovely piece. I wanted to expand in my photography skills and play around with motion. This was very challenging to do because I've never done something like this before. We both worked extremely hard to create/catch that perfect shot until we were exhausted. I love absolutely everything about this shoot from beginning to end. Adriana perfectly simulated the role of a "bird" fleeing her home to the warmer corners of the earth in the south and I was grateful to be able to capture it. Hope you like it as well.

Artist's Perfect Getaway

This piece here, is an extension of my own heart. A heart that just like the rest of the hearts, grows weary at the daily hustle and bustle and wants nothing but peace. It wants an escape, a place where nothing can disturb the tranquility. So, as to display that, I chose a beautiful location where my family comes to pick cherries in the summer and marvel at the beauty of our surroundings. Originally, I am someone who adored drawing and painting as a child and still do so once in a while. During this session, I aimed to create a dreamy soft look to represent the comfort of the place. And so this is how the story unfolded..
